LSTC Back to School
It's that time of the year again, when students will learn skills to succeed by building, repairing and maintaining refrigerators, cars, computers and so much more while earning a degree at Linn State Technical College, Missouri's only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission to prepare students for profitable employment and a life of learning.

New and returning students will be welcomed to campus for orientation on Monday, August 25. This year's theme, "Power Up," will provide students with college information and networking opportunities. Students will have the chance to visit with local businesses during a merchant's fair, participate in games and activities, and enjoy a free BBQ before the semester begins on Tuesday.

If you would like to check out the campus and programs, the "Must See LSTC" events will be held this fall, on October 11, 17, 18 and 24. Please visit MustSeeLSTC/Dates.asp for details and tour information.

Regular tuition is $146 per credit hour starting this fall with 850-900 students anticipated to enroll in more than 25 programs. Curriculum additions to the Nuclear Technology program include: Radiation Protection Option, Instrumentation and Control Option, and Reactor Operations Option.

A major goal this year is the final piloting of the employer driven initiative to provide students and prospective employers with a percentage of class attendance as well as a score on work ethic and attitude for every course taken by students. This is a value added service to both students and employers. It provides students an opportunity to showcase their work ethic as well as their academic abilities to prospective employers.

"Having a work ethic score, percentage of attendance as well as an academic grade for each course recorded in transcripts is a service our employers have asked for and an opportunity for students that is innovative among higher education institutions. We know of no other institution that is doing this," states Dr. Donald Claycomb, LSTC President.

The newly constructed Activity Center opened in January. Health and fitness programs are continually added in response to student and community needs.

The college anticipates breaking ground for the Vehicle and Power Center in the near future. The funding sources are primarily the Lewis & Clark Discovery Initiative and lottery proceeds.

With all the new changes and new developments at Linn State Technical College, it's promising to be a busy year. For more information or greater detail please call 800.743.8324.
