Scholarship Opportunity: The Financial Aid Office has received information regarding a scholarship from AES Engineers. For more information, please visit http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm Students are not allowed to park in the front row of the Activity Center until after 3:30. Violators will receive tickets beginning Wednesday, November 12.2007 Artic cat tickets are available at the Cashiers Office or Jason Finlay in the Powersports department. 100 tickets to be sold for $50.00 each. When all are sold the drawing will take place. DECEMBER GRADUATES & CTG MAY GRADUATES: The CAAP test for AAS degree students graduating in December of 2008 and the May 2009 CTG graduates will be administered on December 2, 2008 beginning at 8:00 A.M. Location of testing will be announced closer to the test date. The CAAP test is a graduation requirement for all AAS degree students. Please be sure to see department chair to sign- Coats For Kids Drive...Please bring clean winter coats, sweaters, scarves, and mittens for local needy children. Donations can be dropped into boxes located in the Information Technology Center, Nilges Technology Center, and/or Activity Center near the reception desks, during the month of November. Scholarship Opportunity: Sophomores-- Do you plan to transfer to a four-year college next fall? If so, do you have a cumulative 3.50 GPA? If so, you may be eligible to apply for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. For more information, visit www.jkcf.org. All application materials must be submitted to the LSTC Financial Aid Office by December 1, 2008. SPRING 2009 REGISTRATION DATES Spring 2009 registration is right around the corner! Please make sure your accounts are clear (no holds) so that you’re eligible to enroll in the Spring 2009 classes you’ll need and want. Here is our timeline for registering:·
Please make an appointment with your advisor to begin the registration process. If you don’t know who your advisor is, please contact Denise Hegerfeld or Jody Relford in NTC 108 or Elaine Brandt in NTC 110. You may obtain a Spring 2009 schedule of classes from your department chair, the Academic Records Staff, or the LSTC website. TURNING POINT 2nd year students: 2007-2008 yearbooks are now available in the Activity Center. Any student needing to take the NATEF End of Program test to allow transfer credit to be accepted should contact Kathy Duncan extension 5130 so that she can order the required test, and schedule you a test date. Testing will begin the second week of December. Job Opportunities: The Settle Inn (new hotel in Linn) is now accepting applications for part-time House Keepers and Desk Help. You can stop by the hotel to pick up an application if you are interested. If you have any questions, contact Glenda or Barb in Career Services. Little Britches, a local daycare, needs an assistant from 3-5:00 everyday. Call Thelma at 573-897-3003 if you are interested. Judy’s Café is looking for an EXPERIENCED waitress from 7 am to 2 pm every Sunday and some Saturdays. Please let Judy know that you are a LSTC student. Local farmer is looking to hire an experience farm hand. The hours would be afternoons and some Saturdays. If you are interested, please call Jerry at 573-694-1681. Service Desk Attendant (Part-Time)Linn State Technical College seeks a part-time Service Desk Attendant to provide general assistance to Activity Center members and patrons. Duties include greeting visitors and facility members; answering the phone, providing facility information; processing class registrations and facility memberships Qualifications: 16+ years of age; must have or be willing to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification.
